Mountains, Molehills and Momentum
The biggest problem that I find people having with financial goals is that often they seem daunting. The mountain looks big from the foothills. Living near the Rockies is a daily reminder that mountains are big and I am small. However, the blind have ascended Mt. Everest, the paraplegic ascend rocky faces, and any shortcoming we may have should cause us to push harder to succeed. Not foolishly, but with determination and focus, methodically planning and executing our strategy. The small start is the first step of 1,000 mile journey. The problem with the human mind is often that it looks at a goal in intervals and worse it can start thinking of Zeno’s dichotomy paradox. That is to say that we think we’ve always got halfway left, we’ll never reach the end.
Right now I’m struggling with thinking that I’m only making the tiniest of strides - instead of seeing the humor in the ‘Baby Steps’ program from “What About Bob?” I’m feeling the finite and smallness of the steps. This post is a simple reminder that I have climbed the 14,000 foot mountains in the Rockies (two at least), I have ridden a bicycle around Lake Tahoe in California & Nevada. I’ve achieved things technologically before others… and this is just another challenge to be beaten.
Stay the course, develop moment, and keep going!
