Savings Throughout My House Part I: The Concept

I challenged my wife today on the phone to a walk through the house where each of us would have to come up with a way we could save money for day-to-day living in each room. These savings choices could involve saving money by doing different things in the rooms or it could involve spending some money in that room for energy efficiency in the near term but having greater savings in that room over time due to the improvement in efficiency. Over the next several days I’m going to post the things that we choose. I won’t promise you that those things will be revolutionary concepts that you’ve never heard of, but it will mean a savings for us long term - hopefully in the hundreds of dollars a year - that we can apply towards various other areas of our lives.

I’d like to challenge the readers of this blog to do the same in their homes: go find places in your house that are sucking up electricity, killing efficiency and draining your wallet and feel free to post your improvements in the comments here, or on your own blogs.
