Savings Throughout My House Part VII: The Girls’ Rooms
My daughters have rooms that are side-by-side down the upstairs hallway. One is pink and the other yellow. The previous owners had painted a horse on one of the rooms’ walls with very, very dark blue paint surrounding it. It was cute for boys but it was absolutely maddening to paint over the horse and blue paint with layer after layer of primer.
The girls rooms are both pretty well efficient because I didn’t want them to be cold during the winters or hot during the summers. One of them needs CFL bulbs in their overhead light.
Both rooms have pull down window shades to block out the most light possible and curtains to add a layer of light insulation.
I’m going to check their heating registers to make sure that the heat is blown into the rooms instead of towards the windows.
