Make a Sandwich
This week we had company in town. We did some eating out, but for many meals we intentionally prepared some sandwiches that we packed with various side bits like apple sauce for the kids and chips for everyone to share (which were of course purchased with coupons). For us to feed nine people pizza cost (with gratuity) $68.00. For nine people to eat sandwiches and such cost around $17.00 [we have food allergies and our bread is more expensive than others - we could have conceivably spent less].
If you do the math there you’ll find that it is roughly three times more expensive to eat out. I’ve always known that it was more expensive to eat out but calculating numbers on eating out is always stunning to me. It just proves that I’ve got to stay on top of all expenditures.
