Dripping Money Like It Was Water
Within a three day period I discovered that my swamp cooler (AKA Evaporative Cooler) had been leaking and that my water bill was over $100.00. Given that my water bill is usually closer to $70.00 the $30.00 difference was rather irritating. My budget hasn’t been blown out by it, but its not ideal.
What was going on with my swamp cooler was that the floater that turned off the water valve had become submerged due to its somehow being filled with water. In other words the water from a tiny little line that keeps the swamp cooler’s basin full of water for its cooling pump slowly ran my water bill up approximately $30.00. In case you have a swamp cooler I recommend that you give it a look-see periodically to make sure that the cooler isn’t dripping, leaking or draining water in larger amounts than it should (which technically should be never). I can’t very well go back in time to fix the leak sooner, but I thought I’d let readers know about this so that they might be able to keep ahead of the game.
