Hold that Check… For Eternity
Good grief my bank is sitting on my check (some of which is going to pay off one of my debts) for a week! Nothing says customer service like eating up potential interest earned or paying off debts to stop paying interest somewhere else. You’d think that customer service would dictate that getting the customer their money quickly was a priority, but you’d be wrong. You see there’s some sort of clearing system going on. The bank that the check is written from is across the street from my bank. I know because I closed the account at the bank that gave me the check. And drove across the street.
If I’ve learned anything in this whole scenario it is that cash is king. I plan to as much as possible use cash moving forward to avoid this hassle anywhere and everywhere possible. Stupid delays like this are frustrating and don’t earn anything for customers while they earn some return for someone at the bank. Dumb.
