Put On Your Moses Robe and Get to Leading
This post is in response to Free Money Finance’s post about friends and neighbors determining wealth. While I see that this could be a correlation I don’t think its a rule, its more of a pattern. In fact, if this is a pattern, then there have to be trend setters within that pattern. Instead of being a follower: be a leader. I’ve already talked about discussing finances with your friends, so I won’t rehash some of those things (which you can read here and here), but I do want to point out that you can take the lead and attempt to influence them instead of being merely influenced by them.
A good relationship will have influences that go both ways, but you need to be the one to direct the relationship into financial wellbeing, a good focus on a greater relationship, and of course reduce the ‘keeping up with the Joneses’ mentality. In fact you can do things like decluttering and keeping things simple to help keep appearances up, and expenses down.
