For two years, I was on a family-plan contract with Cingular. It just expired this past fall. Since then, I've still been with them (I'm happy) and paying the rate we negotiated into that contract.

Here's the thing: now I want a new phone, and I could get one for practically free, if only I'd agree to a contract. The family members want to do it.

I'm happy with Cingular. I've liked them all this time. But I HATE getting locked into a contract!
